This Melbourne property was experiencing gutter deterioration, water overflow, and drainage issues during rainfall. We replaced the failing gutter system with new Colorbond gutters designed to handle Melbourne's changing weather conditions and improve overall roof drainage performance.
More than just another guttering company, Singh Roofing takes a complete roof drainage approach to gutter replacement. Every project includes an assessment of gutter capacity, downpipe performance, stormwater flow, overflow risks, fascia condition, and roof drainage pathways to ensure the new system performs properly during Melbourne’s heavy rainfall events.
One of the most common questions we get from Melbourne homeowners is: should I repair my gutters or replace them entirely? The answer depends on the age of your gutters, the extent of the damage, and the type of material. Our team assesses every job honestly, we will never recommend full replacement if a targeted repair will solve the problem.
Quick Decision Guide:| Problem | Gutter Age | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| Single crack or split | Less than 10 years old | Repair |
| One section sagging | Less than 10 years old | Repair the bracket + section |
| Multiple cracks, multiple sections | 10–15 years old | Full replacement recommended |
| Rust throughout | 15+ years old | Full replacement |
| Pulling away from fascia (multiple points) | Any age | Full replacement, check fascia too |
| Overflowing in light rain (not just blockage) | Any age | Upgrade to larger profile |
| Water staining on exterior walls | Any age | Full inspection required |
| Gutters over 20 years old | 20+ years old | Proactive full replacement advised |
At Singh Roofing, we specialise in gutter repair and gutter replacement in Melbourne, using high-quality Colorbond guttering designed to handle harsh Australian conditions.
Our licensed roof plumbers (Licence #130463) will inspect your gutters and give honest advice, no upselling, just the right solution.
Melbourne’s climate puts gutters under serious stress, hot summers, heavy autumn rainfall, and cold winters. Most Colorbond gutters last 25–30 years, but signs of failure can appear after 10–15 years if maintenance has been neglected. Here are the five most common signs Melbourne homeowners see before their gutters fail completely:
Melbourne’s storm season, typically March through June, brings high winds, heavy rainfall, and hail that can destroy gutters overnight. If a storm has damaged your gutters and water is entering your roof, fascia, or walls, fast action is critical to prevent compounding structural damage.
Singh Roofing is a fully licensed roof plumbing services business (VBA Licence #130463), which means every gutter replacement we complete in Melbourne comes with a Certificate of Compliance, a legal requirement for all roof plumbing work in Victoria. From full gutter replacement to seamless gutter installation, downpipe replacement, box gutters, and fascia board repair, we cover every aspect of your home’s roof drainage system.

Complete removal and replacement of old, damaged or rusted gutters. We install new Colorbond or Zincalume systems built for Melbourne's climate.

Matching downpipes installed as part of every gutter job. We ensure correct placement and gradient for optimal stormwater drainage.

Commercial-grade box gutter solutions for flat roofs, extensions, and commercial properties across Melbourne. Watertight and long-lasting.

Stainless steel mesh gutter guards that keep leaves and debris out, dramatically reducing maintenance and preventing blockages.

Rotted or damaged fascia boards repaired or replaced as part of your gutter job, ensuring a solid foundation for your new gutter system.
We use premium materials designed to handle Melbourne’s climate:

Colorbond steel gutters are the most popular option for gutter replacement in Melbourne due to their durability and weather resistance. Designed for Australian conditions, they withstand heavy rain, UV exposure, and temperature changes without rusting or fading. Available in 22 colours, they also enhance your home’s appearance while providing long-term performance.

Zincalume gutters offer a strong and affordable alternative to Colorbond. With excellent corrosion resistance, they perform well in Melbourne’s changing weather conditions while keeping costs lower. Ideal for homeowners looking for reliable performance on a budget.

Many gutter overflows are not caused by blocked gutters. They occur because the original gutter profile, downpipe sizing, or roof drainage design is inadequate for the roof’s catchment area. This is why Singh Roofing performs a roof drainage assessment before recommending a gutter replacement solution. Correct sizing depends on how much water the roof collects, how quickly it must be discharged, and how Melbourne’s rainfall patterns affect drainage performance.
| Roof Catchment / Pitch | Melbourne Zone | Recommended Profile |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 40m² / Low pitch | Medium rainfall (inner suburbs) | 115mm Quad |
| 40–80m² / Medium pitch | Medium rainfall | 125mm Quad or Mini-Line |
| 80m² + / Medium–steep pitch | Medium rainfall | Half-Round or Mini-Line |
| Any size | High rainfall outer suburbs | Mini-Line or Half-Round |
| Commercial / flat roof | Any | Box Gutter (custom size) |
| Extension or addition | Any | Match existing or upgrade to Mini-Line |
Note: These are indicative guidelines. Our licensed roof plumbers calculate the correct gutter size for your specific property during the free on-site inspection, using BOM rainfall data for your Melbourne suburb.
We believe in upfront, honest pricing. Here’s a guide to typical gutter replacement costs in Melbourne, and we’ll beat any written quote.

We recently used Singh Roofing and Tiles for roof pointing, roof cleaning, gutter cleaning, and some additional work around our house. During the extra work, there was a misunderstanding about the scope of the job. Lucky came out personally, took the time to explain everything clearly, and resolved the issue in a very professional and honest manner. I really appreciated his transparency and the way he handled the situation. In the end, everything was completed to a high standard, and the workmanship was exceptional. We're very happy with the final result and would confidently recommend Singh Roofing and Tiles to anyone looking for quality roofing services.Posted on Google Faze Tech ReviewsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Highly recommend Singh roofing, completed the job with full care, they knew what needs to be donePosted on Google Dane LaiTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Lucky and his guys do fantastic work, a work colleague recommended them to me as they had restored his roof recently and now that they've worked on my property, I can absolutely back that recommendation. I originally called them to check some buckling tiles and do a quote to repair those tiles only, but Lucky showed me photos of the poor state of the roof after many years of neglect by the previous owners and recommended a roof restoration. I attached photos of before and after Singh roofing worked their magic and the roof looks brand new, I cannot fault their work.Posted on Google Julio DeeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This could easily have been a 1-star review, but their integrity turned it into a 5-star experience. I had a new ducted fan installed and tested - my humidity sensor confirmed it worked perfectly. I then needed a vent, so I contacted Singh Roofing (SR). They provided a reasonable quote, I approved it, and a low-profile vent was installed within a couple of days. However, the humidity sensor then showed moisture lingering for a very long time after showers. After doing a quick check in the roof and some research, I contacted SR to report I had an issue and suggested the duct length might be the cause. I was told it wasn’t too long, that this was a standard install for them, do it this way all the time, and that the issue must be with the fan. Being told the fan was the problem was frustrating, and after some back and forth, despite me explaining it worked fine prior, I was eventually told they had to go as they had other calls waiting. At this point I was even more frustrated. I got on the roof and after some time found the issue: the backdraft flap couldn’t move. The way the ducting had been installed effectively reduced the diameter at the fan outlet, preventing the flap from opening freely (which is required for proper exhaust and backdraft prevention). After emailing photos and video evidence, SR responded first thing the next morning and arranged to come out and fix it. The vent installation on the roof tiles appears excellent (to the best of my knowledge), but what really stands out is their willingness to acknowledge the issue and promptly rectify it. That’s what makes this a 5-star review. The only thing that could have been better is if they had offered to come and review it after I reported the issue, and taken on board that it had been working perfectly beforehand, rather than me having to get on the roof myself. One slightly cheeky moment: during the fix, I was told “I can remove the flap”—which of course defeats its purpose, and I said as much. That said, I personally watched the repair, tested the flap before reattaching the duct to the fan, and the final result was an excellent job.Posted on Google Raffles KrisTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had a leaking roof under my solar panels which were installed 3 years ago. Lucky (that's his name), came in a couple of days later, took away a few tiles, crawled into the ceiling and identified two leak spots. The seal for the electrical to the panels had deteriorated. Lucky fixed the leak and replaced a damaged tile without fuss. Excellent work!Posted on Google L TTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
